The Color Red

I think Red has quite a lot of response, whether it is non or a lot they both speak volumes.  Red is a very strong color.  Has power behind it.  Where as you add a little white and you have pink and its light and airy and feminine.  I love to paint in red but it doesn't fit in most peoples homes.  Maybe
offices but not the home.  So I'm going to hang this for the time being in my home until I find a gallery that has a strong clients.   Interesting things that color does... would love to hear your opinions

Getting ready for Thanksgiving and knowing that all this food drama is not what the pilgrims did.
So this year I'm scaling back greatly.  Turkey breast, stuffing, a veggie and homemade cranberries
sauce.  One pie and bam  I will hopefully have no food comma.

My son did make homemade cinnamon rolls. Oh my they look divine.  So I'm posting a two fer.
The smallest I have done and never again.

Its Monday and very cold for the south.  44 degrees.  Yikes no flip flops today and jeans.  Nice for a change.  Bad for painting though as it just doesn't want to dry.  Almost done with my 12 x 12's

Most would think what am I doing.  I'm painting other pieces.  One that I have been struggling with for a month and it finally came together.  In the old days of more wealth I could just throw it away, but now with the technique and the medium I just keep working at it, looking at it and trying to find

something to say with it.  So finally yesterday as I was working on a 24 x 24 I looked over at it and

thought OMG today it will finish itself, and it did.  You will all see it next week...... ENJOY!!!!

Sorry I have not posted much this week but at times even life pushes the easel out of the way.

Some weeks have 5 days of Mondays

What a week and there are still a few days.  Never let it be said how many hats an artist truly wears.
Cleaning studio, cutting 2 dozen boards (and still have to gesso them) and still struggling with a painting.  But to no avail I have finished a few.  ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Most times art is just plain old work and determination

This days post is about a painting that just would not die.  I put it on and said yes, like Richter the next day and I said oh hell no, that is awful.  So over the whole piece again with and orange and it
blocked it all out.  Let that sit for a few days and thought and thought so I decided to cut the piece
down and make it 36 x 36 so I scraped off the paint at the line put up blue tape and worked on another piece putting left over cold wax and oil paint on it from the next piece I was working on.
Well it started to get a voice and I had to look at it for a bit.  Was driving me nuts.  Added a bit more
paint and more motion and direction and I said now its singing.  But I missed those 12 inches I was
going to cut off so I removed the tape and married the two.  Voila!!!!!!!!!!  I knew I was done as the
name came to me just like that.    ENJOY!!!!!!!!!

Influenced by Music

Today's piece was influenced by music.  Who has not heard the song on the opera of Madame Butterfly , "The Flight of the Bumble Bees"   Anyone who has watched cartoons as a kid has heard this.  So this piece just was painted itself while I listened to that song over and over.  It's a little
different for me but hey music does influence art while making it.

It's Monday and November

Who moved time so fast.  When we were young it seemed to stand still  til Christmas and Birthdays and Summers with no school.  Now it was summer and now its time to think of turkey and presents

Oh My.

But interesting news for me is that I will be posting a painting each week for sale here and on facebook.  It will be small and unframed.  This will start in January.  I have to have some ready
in the event I find I have  to paint big for a week or two.  So watch the posts and get ready.
