Story behind this is I rarely paint purple. Saying this though made me think as I was painting it going to my Grandmothers house and being intoxicated with that heavenly fragrance. I hope that everyone has had the pleasure of that sweet sweet smell. I'm originally from Rochester, NY and the original Lilac

Festival is June 6th in Rochester. It's something to behold.

So for 3 days I have endured the dreaded sinus. Tried to paint and that was disastrous. So I took a color test got 100, took an age test got 18 (now thats a joke) finally I resorted to reading my books on Joan Mitchell and just day dreaming about art. Worked and now I'm ready to paint. Love spring but it does most of us in.

Yesterday was the photography day.  I'm not fond of that day.  Setting up, taking down and hoping it was spot on so I don't have to repeat.

So about today's painting.  I don't often paint in this colorway but this worked out so well.  It will be
more amazing when it is polished as the underside of this painting is indian yellow and turquoise.
So all the purple colors are mixed with these two colors.  It gave me such an interesting combination.  Not sure I could repeat it so when I know that happens I seem to be more fond of the painting.

well this will be an interesting post.  the first one is new and the second is a repost.  Sometimes you get funky paint.  Or you mix brands.  It may seem harmless but when you have a painting that does not dry in 4 months.  scrap it back and reapply.  All is good.

March ahhhhhhhhhhh spring is in the air and it's coming.  We all had such a mild winter I would think we can't complain but spring is something to sing about.

You will all find out eventually,  I Love Joan Mitchell's work.  Surprise.   I did this painting in my style but with her in mind. This Diptych will be at Galerie Du Soliel once dry.  I just got one of the two books I ordered on Joan Mitchell.  She was very independent.  That I love about her.  She had no filter on her comments.  AHH not so much, but
the work alone speaks for itself.  She and Mary Abbott and a few other note worthy women artists
will be at the museum in Denver in June.  I was sad as I could not go but wonderful artist Lisa
Boardwine told me that it is traveling and will be in North Carolina.  Now I'm so happy and yes I will be going.  It is in October this year.  YEAH!!!!!!!!  So I will post the piece I did that show my love for Joan and more will come.  I don't want to lose my style so I'm careful to paint what I love and taking a few clues from her.  Every artist should have a small bag of heroes that they go to that will
push them along.  So without much more ado here it is.   ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!

It's crazy weather all over the USA.  One day we have 80 sweltering heat, next day torrents of rain and wind at 30mph and today very breezy and with wind chill it is about 30 degrees out.  I moved to
the south because its warm and sunny and green.  In reality it is 4 months out of the year.  LOL
Gives me lots of time to paint in the other 8 months and to spend those 4 months out at the pool with
my dogs.  At least it does not snow here-----YET!
Since painting abstracts I knew since I'm such a reader that I would find one artist that I kept gravitating to and that is Joan Mitchell.   I have read and absorbed as much as I can about her and
painting.  I'm also fond of Mary Abbott.  I think I'm heading down a sound and solid path with those
two greats.    ENJOY  today's post!!!!!!!!!!

Sometimes an artist just gets in the groove and paints til their arms feel like falling off.  Well that is what I did.  I had to paint over some favorites as the white paint or some paint was bad and would never dry.  Those I will repost.  So for now ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!   I hear my paint calling me.

I feel like I have done a shift at the hospital for 48 hours straight and know I should only take a nap.  I'm joking really.  I absolutely love what I do and feel incredibly blessed to be able to do this.  I have a smaller one to post.  The larger pieces have such a great conversation going but the little ones are like you just walked up in the middle and only heard a few words but it was juicy.   ENJOY!!!!!!!!!

First the fabulous news that I am not part of Galerie Du Soliel in Naples Fl.  I am very happy and I feel I am in two really beautiful galleries.  I have been lost on the scene as I have been painting and
have just completed my first diptych.  Not sharing that today but the one I am sharing the light is silver oil paint.  In person this piece just shimmers.  Very excited.   ENJOY!!!!!!!!!!!

I've just been accepted into Galerie Du Soliel in Naples Florida.    I'm so very honored.  Been busy
finishing up all the paintings. Have  13 to Deliver to Stellers Gallery in Jacksonville, Fl.  So I hope
people go and see the new work.

Yesterday I was over the moon and back that between my two galleries
they took 18 paintings. Wow. Very exciting and they are doing the absolute best for me. I couldn't be happier with them. Cheers!!!
now I have to cut boards today and paint. I actually have a part time assistant in the studio. God is good!!!

Today it is mundane human chores.   Finishing up for a preview from the Gallery.  Must back some cookies.  LOL.  Struggling on a painting.  It does not want to be green.  So I just got tired of it and slapped some cobalt blue on it and I can see the painting is correct.  Seems to be heading in the right
